Our first ES in the new Space!

Our Expertise Sessions are a chance for self-identifying female entrepreneurs and creatives who are craving support, empowerment and connection to listen and learn from industry professionals, get support and meet other likeminded OGB’s. You’ll learn tips and tricks that will help grow your business, your confidence and your wellbeing — all in a supportive and loving environment with no cringe networking stuff (no name badges or icebreakers here!).

In this Expertise Session, you'll be hearing from 3 speakers on the topic we always tend to skirt around- money and how to make it when you’re self-employed. You’ll get a One Girl Band tote bag on arrival, plus all profits from ticket sales will go to Tiny Changes, a Scottish mental health charity for young people and children. Remember to bring sanitary items to donate to our local Red Box Project!

Kaye Symington from Paved With Gold - Crowdfunding.

There are lots of different ways to raise money, and crowdfunding seems like an easy way of raising funds fast, but what really goes into a crowdfunding campaign? What do you need to think about before you launch, and how can you make sure you have a successful campaign? Kaye's going to share how you can run a successful crowdfunding campaign, while growing and maintaining your creative business.
Kaye Symington is the co-founder of Paved With Gold, a digital marketing consultancy who build communities and audiences for new and established brands. Following the successful delivery of many international crowdfunding campaigns, raising over $1 million dollars of capital for different (product & service) campaigns, Kaye and her team at Paved with Gold, have recently been named as one of Kickstarter’s selected Global Experts. Kaye is passionate about working with brands to deliver inspiring campaigns, which engage the audience and build loyal communities.

Kate Pickering from Vanilla Ink - A real insight into starting a CIC company.

Finally, we always like our final speaker to be a real-life ‘case study’ and for this session, we have the wonderful Kate from Vanilla Ink Jewellery coming in to talk about the realities of starting and running a company — challenges and all. No fluff, no bull- just an honest chat about running a CIC. Vanilla Ink is Scotland’s unique Jewellery School and Studios. Kate founded Vanilla Ink Studios in 2009, with the goal to bridge the gap from jewellery education into industry. Knowing that it can be difficult to find your place within the ever changing landscape, Kate developed The Vanilla Ink Programme, designed to support and promote jewellers in the early stages of their careers. A exciting and unique concept, it's a professional development course designed to make you think about your jewellery business as a whole. Having a degree in jewellery herself, she understands the difficulties new designers face when setting up their own business. Calling upon her knowledge, Kate wanted to create a space that allowed collaborations, room to learn from mistakes and time to reflect.

We'll be starting promptly at 6.15pm so please arrive for then. As we’re on the third floor in an old warehouse, there is unfortunately no lift.
