QOYA: Dancing with the Abundance of Life with Kate Taylor

As we honour Midsummer, we honour the abundance of the season. With the fruits of the season comes the sweetness of gratitude to honour all that is offered up; both in nature, and within our own lives.

"Blending midsummer air drifting softly in the sapphire twilight clouds where the beauty of love's kisses and music is real."

Erich J. Goller

In this special Qoya dance to honour the midsummer we will give thanks to all that is by taking part in a despacho (gratitude ceremony) at the end of the class.

QOYA is based on a simple idea that through movement, we remember. We remember that our essence is Wise, Wild and Free. Wise evokes the wisdom of yoga, wild the creative expression in dance and free invites us to expand our capacity for pleasure in the body. In Qoya, we focus less on how it looks and more on how it feels. There’s no beginner, intermediate or advanced levels because there’s just one level and that is when it feels good you’re doing it right.

**PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING AND BRING WATER AND A BLANKET (OR SOMETHING TO KEEP WARM WHEN AT THE END OF THE CLASS)**

Basics of Weaving with Lucy from Peas and Needles

  • One Girl Band Space

This class is ideal for beginners who are interested in learning the basics of weaving on a lap loom. Weaving is a fast growing trend, is well known for its therapeutic tendencies and allows you to play with texture and colour culminating in the creation of your own wall hanging. Why not try a new craft for the new year!

The class will cover how to warp up a loom including how to get the tension right. You will learn how to make tassles to give your wall hanging a simple fringe finish. It will cover various weaving techniques which Lucy will talk you through step by step throughout the lesson. You will be encouraged to experiment with colours and textures using a selection of yarns and roving to create your piece. You will then be shown how to take your weave off the loom and get it ready to hang using a piece of doweling which will give your wall hanging a perfect finish.

All materials will be provided and you will get to go home with one small but wonderful weaving ready to hang on your wall. Classes are limited to 8 spaces so please be quick if you would like to book.

Lucy runs a craft and lifestyle blog that has been featured in many craft magazines including Mollie Makes which she has written tutorials for. She is a self taught weaver and crafter and is excited to pass on these skills to other makers.

OGB Expertise Session // At H.EN

How to present your brand on Social Media

Our first Expertise Session of the season will be headed by our founder, Lola.

Lola is a mentor to female entrepreneurs who want to create a better life for themselves, and perhaps need some clarity and guidance on their brand's message. She specialises in social media help, particularly Instagram. Lola can't really say how good she is because she's writing this right now, and that would be weird. Just have faith that she's good at what she does.

We'll be learning things such as:

  • How to brand your social media for your business
  • Social media scheduling (key times and days, the best software + resources to use, how to avoid overwhelm, basically keeping it as easy as possible!)
  • Strategies and content ideas for your brand
  • Tips for boosting your conversion rate and ultimately, result in sales

The wonderful H.EN will be our venue, and we'll have a section of the restaurant to natter, drink, eat and learn. You get a welcoming drink included in your ticket (choose from cocktails, wine, beer, coffee/tea, and the usual softs) and H.EN will be serving food so feel free to support them and grab some dinner.

Bring your notepad and your stories!

Remember, you are more than welcome to join us if you are not a member of One Girl Band. Just purchase your ticket below (and perhaps have a scour of our Member's page to see if it tickles your fancy? You save £51 if you're a regular!).

If you are a member, please secure your spot to this Expertise Session by adding to cart, and then entering your discount code at checkout. We will check your details coincide with your membership, and if there are any issues, we'll be in touch.

Dionne has been creating art, music and wellness projects between UK and Norway since 2010, and is passionate about creating inclusive spaces to connect and inspire.

In this session, we will explore how to be real about the way we take care of ourselves.

We will be covering a range of related subjects including mindfulness, meditation, food + nutrition, being + living well, work/life balance, combating busy-ness, energy, creativity, and self care. We'll focus on ourselves for once, not our businesses.
