OGB Expertise Session on Personal Branding

OGB Expertise Session on Personal Branding
20.00

Our Expertise Sessions are back with a new format! From now on, we'll be hosting regular ES's that consist of 2 or 3 speakers talking about a certain subject that'll help you grow your business and brand. They'll range from branding to self care, accounting to content marketing

This session is about personal branding.

As creative business owners, freelancers, bloggers etc, being visible and putting our brands out there online is vital if you want to attract your ideal customers and reach new heights. But how do we do this authentically, without leaving our integrity and values at the wayside?

We have three wonderful speakers coming in who all, respectively, have expertise in social media, branding photography and brand/website design, and know just how you can create results whilst remaining true to yourself.

Becky Rui, an international Personal Branding Photographer, will be talking about:

"The world is such a visual place, and imagery can play a huge part in our brands success when we use it in the right way. Being self employed women in business, in a world where the technology we depend on is constantly evolving and ways of working and marketing ourselves are really quite new, how do we show up online in a way that feels good, sustainable, in integrity and attract our ideal clients?

In my talk, I will be sharing about the importance of photography in business and how it impacts our brands, how to use imagery in your business to take it to the next level in your website, Instagram, mailers, and what you need to consider for your next shoot.

Alongside the focus on photography, I also want to open space for discussion about having a personal brand in general, a space to voice our questions and thoughts around how we come across online and the pressures we find when we bravely show up as the face of our business.

My aim is for you to come away reminded of your greatness, feeling less alone in this, knowing that it is safe for you to show up as yourself, with new ideas and clarity around how you can use photography to grow your business and share your message in a way that feels exciting for you!"

Shelley from Polka Dot Petal, a PR, Social Media and Copywriting Consultancy will be talking about:

    • Why it’s important to be yourself (and not another generic account) when building your social media following
    • How to be true to you when it seems like everyone else is doing the same
    • Finding YOUR followers
    • Connecting with people who get YOU
    • Combatting the 'pressure to post' feeling, just because you feel you have to

Cat, from Gatto Web, will be talking about:

    • DIY-ing your brand and colour palette (keeping it simple if you want to create your brand yourself and how to use colours which reflect your image)
    • Creating a branding guide (having a template to refer to when creating graphics, updating your website and using your logo)
    • The best way to DIY your website (using Squarespace to create your own website which looks professional and on-brand)
    • How to portray your brand on your website (where to include logo's, how to keep your design cohesive, using graphics to increase your brand's reach).

    Making Positive Changes: Play

Einstein said “Play is the highest form of research.”

Plato said “Life must be based on play.”

Emerson said “It is a happy talent to know how to play.”

Confucius said “It is better to play than do nothing.”

Jordan said “Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game”

As adults we often feel play is limited to those under the age of 10. We assume a role of seriousness, meeting deadlines, being the provider and play can feel immature, unrecognisable and a waste of time. We've become so ‘careful’ in how we manage our lives that we’ve simply forgotten how to get play. Play means creativity. Play means connection. Play means learning how to be in sync with each other. Play can, and ought to, be brought more easily into every day life. We're seeing it much more in the movement industry, in tech and wellness.

Play isn’t just for kids. Join us in our new home at One Girl Band in Vine Street for this month’s Making Positive Changes and let us remind you how to play.

QOYA: Dancing with the Abundance of Life with Kate Taylor

As we honour Midsummer, we honour the abundance of the season. With the fruits of the season comes the sweetness of gratitude to honour all that is offered up; both in nature, and within our own lives.

"Blending midsummer air drifting softly in the sapphire twilight clouds where the beauty of love's kisses and music is real."

    Erich J. Goller

In this special Qoya dance to honour the midsummer we will give thanks to all that is by taking part in a despacho (gratitude ceremony) at the end of the class.

QOYA is based on a simple idea that through movement, we remember. We remember that our essence is Wise, Wild and Free. Wise evokes the wisdom of yoga, wild the creative expression in dance and free invites us to expand our capacity for pleasure in the body. In Qoya, we focus less on how it looks and more on how it feels. There’s no beginner, intermediate or advanced levels because there’s just one level and that is when it feels good you’re doing it right.

**PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHING AND BRING WATER AND A BLANKET (OR SOMETHING TO KEEP WARM WHEN AT THE END OF THE CLASS)**

How to present your brand on Social Media

Our first Expertise Session of the season will be headed by our founder, Lola.

Lola is a mentor to female entrepreneurs who want to create a better life for themselves, and perhaps need some clarity and guidance on their brand's message. She specialises in social media help, particularly Instagram. Lola can't really say how good she is because she's writing this right now, and that would be weird. Just have faith that she's good at what she does.

We'll be learning things such as:

    • How to brand your social media for your business
    • Social media scheduling (key times and days, the best software + resources to use, how to avoid overwhelm, basically keeping it as easy as possible!)
    • Strategies and content ideas for your brand
    • Tips for boosting your conversion rate and ultimately, result in sales

The wonderful H.EN will be our venue, and we'll have a section of the restaurant to natter, drink, eat and learn. You get a welcoming drink included in your ticket (choose from cocktails, wine, beer, coffee/tea, and the usual softs) and H.EN will be serving food so feel free to support them and grab some dinner.

Bring your notepad and your stories!

Remember, you are more than welcome to join us if you are not a member of One Girl Band. Just purchase your ticket below (and perhaps have a scour of our Member's page to see if it tickles your fancy? You save £51 if you're a regular!).

Last time we had an expert in Marketing and the vibe was productive and relaxed.

Our second session will be with Dionne Elizabeth from Changing the Menu, who will talk about how to find, adapt and implement self care techniques into our daily working lives.

Dionne has been creating art, music and wellness projects between UK and Norway since 2010, and is passionate about creating inclusive spaces to connect and inspire.

In this session, we will explore how to be real about the way we take care of ourselves.

We will be covering a range of related subjects including mindfulness, meditation, food + nutrition, being + living well, work/life balance, combating busy-ness, energy, creativity, and self care. We'll focus on ourselves for once, not our businesses.

Bring a pad and a pen and yourself.

Buy your tickets below, and remember that all tickets include a free drink (including craft beer, wine, cocktails, the usual softs + tea and coffee). Food will also be available as well at a extra charge, so come and have some dinner whilst learning a thing or two.

OGB meet up // at Applaud Coffee Ipswich (AFTERNOON)

One Girl Band is coming to Suffolk.

After the morning session at Applaud Coffee sold out in a record of 5 hours, we've decided to add an extra afternoon session for those who didn't grab a ticket in time!

Come join us for a coffee afternoon full of inspirational chat with other female creatives + entrepreneurs just like yourself. It's completely informal; just a chance to meet likeminded women who also have a passion for their venture. We'll talk about the challenges we face as entrepreneurs, what we love about our jobs, and we'll support + nurture one another throughout the session.

Bring your notebooks and your stories, and sit down with a superb coffee from Applaud.

Booking is compulsory due to the small amount of spaces we have available. Don't miss out!

OGB Expertise Session // At H.EN

Join us for our first ever OGB Expertise Session.

This is where we will be joined by a speaker who has an area of expertise that will help us all in nurturing and growing our businesses. They will come and chat with you, giving you first-hand knowledge of subjects such as marketing, accounting, time management, self care, and everything else that goes into being an entrepreneur.

Our first session will be with Daisy Foster, from Daisy Leaf, who will be there to talk us through the huge (and sometimes daunting) world of marketing. Daisy has an exceptional gift of making marketing, google adwords, SEO and anything else you can think of make sense, and is incredibly sincere and humble in her knowledge. She'll be there to answer your questions on online campaigns, how to get the most out of your audience, and will show you just how easy it is to reach your, and your businesses, potential.

Buy your tickets here, or below, and remember that all tickets include a free drink (including craft beer, wine, cocktails, the usual softs + tea and coffee). Food will also be available as well, so come have some dinner whilst learning a thing or two.
